Vacuum Trap is used at the inlet side of vacuum pump to protect to the vacuum pump oil from contaminating process vapor so that vacuum pump life is increased. Vacuum trap are either desiccant type or cold trap type. In desiccant trap silica gel, activated alumina, activated charcoal, zeolite etc are used. in cold trap chilled water, brine, liquid nitrogen, dry ice etc are used.
